1 JOB POSITION 1: PORTER & RELIEF DRIVER

The Porter & Relief Driver position is ideal for individuals who enjoy a combination of guest-facing tasks and responsible vehicle management. This hybrid role plays a key part in ensuring seamless guest arrival experiences and safe transportation operations within the lodge.

Job Purpose

The Porter & Relief Driver is responsible for two major functions:

1. Driving hotel vehicles safely and professionally

The driver ensures safe and lawful transportation of guests, staff, and hotel goods while maintaining excellent vehicle care and compliance with transportation laws.

2. Performing porter duties during guest check-in and check-out

This includes luggage handling, escorting guests to rooms, and explaining room features and hotel facilities.

This role directly influences the guest experience and creates some of the first and last impressions visitors have of the lodge.

DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensuring Safety & Lawful Driving

The driver must:

  • Obey all national traffic laws
  • Ensure passengers always wear seat belts
  • Prioritize road safety under all conditions

This is crucial because the lodge operates in a wildlife environment where road safety is essential.

2. Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance

Daily checks include:

  • Fuel levels
  • Brake function
  • Headlights and indicators
  • Tyres & overall condition

Any mechanical issue must be immediately reported to the Head of Department and Maintenance Manager.

3. Vehicle Cleanliness & Upkeep

The driver must keep the vehicle clean, both inside and outside, at all times. The lodge holds drivers accountable for any negligence, misuse, or avoidable damage.

4. Logbook Management
